This is our favorite pic from the weekend. We laughed SOOO hard during our snorkeling time. THIS is our team. :)

Our team...after snorkeling...we had sooo much fun. :)

On the way out to snorkel...the pics get a bit out of order here...but just go with it. :)

Hanging out doing what miss'ys in Africa do best...waiting. :)

Just a great tree downtown.

Aren't they adorable?

This place just screams for black and white photos. :)

A great place to be artsy. :)

I cannot get over the color of the water.

Brent and Sara laughing about how stupid they look in the masks. :)

Sarah hanging out on the boat taking pics of us in the water!

Sarah and Sara. :)

A starfish they brought aboard. Amazing!

Ok, this is not a great pic...but I will have you notice that we are all covered up. On the two hour ferry ride over to Zanzibar...we sat in the VERY front...directly in front of the air conditioners that read 20 degrees! Ha...we nearly froze. :)

Here is a guy making the sugar cane drink...the one that Sarah talked about in the post with ginger and lime. YUM!

Our hotel room...it was very unique!

Zanzibar at night.

This morning, after breakfast, we went on a spice tour...

Our guide, Juma, showing us the local lipstick. :)

Brent demonstrating how to eat lichi fruit.

Cloves! We learned all about these little guys...they are very interesting!

Randy chowing down on some cinnamon just cut from the tree. Wow...talk about clearing out your sinuses! :)

The craziest palm tree...:)

Pepper. Black. Green. White. Red. All from this same plant! It's just a matter of how you dry it!

Checking out some spices at the end of the tour. :)

Such a beautiful place.

On the way back to town, we stopped to get Randy's flip flop fixed.

There are the ruins from the Sultan's palace...as well as the "Persian bathes"...we stopped by both today just to see what it was all about. Zanzibar has an interesting history!

From inside the Sultan's Persian bathes.

Brent and I in the Sultan's place. It's kinda dark and dingy. :)

Proof that Sarah was also there. :)

This is at the old slave market...this is where they kept the slaves for a few days before selling them. In this room there would be either 75 women and children or 50 men...and see the next pic to see what that chain hanging down is all about.

Ok, a really terrible picture, but you can see what these chains were like...and there were several more people that would have been in here...too close to walk very well. Sobering.

A monument outside the church at the slave area...a vivid reminder of what went on here.

I'm not sure its entirely clear here...but if you look closely, you will see this church coexisting peacefully RIGHT NEXT to a mosque. Our guide took particular pride in this fact...that cousins and Christians live in completely harmony...interesting thoughts here...ask me sometime. :)

Inside St. Monica's Anglican Church.

The stained glass window at St. Monicas Church...it is a picture of the Ethiopian eunich being baptized...(check out the book of Acts to find that story).

Wandering around "Stone Town" doing some shopping and whatnot before we go to catch the plane back to Dar.

Arriving back in Dar es Salaam.

Welcome to South Beach...where went on Thursday afternoon for a few hours. It was such a wonderful escape...not many people on the beach...and gorgeous.

Hanging out with Ima at South Beach. :)

Sarah and Betty with their sandcastle at South Beach.

The Zaramo.

Brenti and a cute mtoto (mmtoetoe). :)

Another view that the boys get when they go running at sun up...on the bay.

What the boys get to see when they go running early in the morning!

A really cool looking and big caterpillar we saw! :)

Our team at the beach. :)

The Indian Ocean at White Sands....like Sarah said, a lot of seaweed...but hey, its the beach...we aren't going to complain! :)

Sarah's sandcastle. :)
